Sick Boy

Haven’t written in a few days.  I have been crazy busy at home.  Baylor has been sick for 2 days, running 102 fever and coughing like crazy.  His fever seems to have broke so now he is just coughing and has a runny nose.  Even though this has lasted for a few days I would much rather have this going around the house than the flu.  And I must say I have loved having him as my little cuddle buddy.  Houston on the other hand is very glad he is feeling better.  Tuesday night she threw a huge fit (and I mean HUGE), with all the works, spitting, kicking, screaming, hitting, etc. because Baylor was sitting on my lap and she couldn’t.  I felt so bad, I wish that I could have all 4 of my kids on my lap at once.  But at that time Baylor needed me more.  That is hard when you have to choose which child needs you more at the time,  because you want to be there for all of them all the time.

During naptime I have been busy getting my lia stuff ready as I have my first show in 5 months tomorrow.  So I have been working hard getting things ready and I am excited for the show.  I have been preparing future shows as well, so hopefully I can get my business up and running again.  Looking forward to getting out, meeting women, and making some money while doing it.

Scrabble Creation

So I saw this idea on Pinterest like one of the first times I was on the site.  I have wanted to do it ever since but didn’t want to use the scrabble pieces from our board game.  I also didn’t want to spend $20 for one at the store, so I have been checking Goodwill’s and hadn’t had any luck until Friday.  I had some birthday money and I wanted to get Tye a new coat and while I was there I checked out the game, and low and behold there it was sitting on the shelf all by itself.  So I picked it up for $2.99.  Woohooo!  This is what I created:

New Blog Address

So I am trying to import this blog to another one that I can do more on.  So once I get it all up and running, I will let you know.  Thanks.

Weight Watchers

Well I did it, I joined weight watchers on Saturday.  My best friend, Melissa, and I both joined together, hoping we can both keep each other motivated to lose the weight we want to lose.  The room was so crowded with people that some were standing during the meeting.  I feel pretty good about it though.  I haven’t felt deprived at all.  After the meeting I went to the grocery store and bought stuff for dinners and snacks.  But it felt great going to the store to buy healthy food rather than junk, although it still amazes me how much more it costs for healthy food.  So Saturday night I made a shrimp scampi for dinner.  My mother in law made this for us when we stayed with them over Christmas and Mark loved it.  I didn’t have a recipe but found one similar in my weight watcher cookbook.  I must say it tasted pretty good and it was soooo easy.  The worst part was taking the tails off the shrimp.  Then on Sunday we were celebrating my dad’s birthday and my birthday over at my parents house.  They made tacos, so needless to say I probably went over my daily allowed 29 points.  But I also get an extra 49 that I can use each week, so I used those on Sunday too.  Not sure how many I actually used but I figured I will just try not to go over the rest of the week.  We don’t eat out so it shouldn’t  be hard to stay within my points.  I think it will be pretty easy to stay within my points but I just think my body needs exercise to lose weight.  I have tried so many different diets such as MRC, Body By Vi, old Weight Watchers, etc. and I lose about 6 pounds and stop.  I just don’t get it.  Mark and I don’t have a gym membership and we don’t have any exercise equipment, or a wii, so not exactly sure how I am going to exercise right now but I figured I can at least get my eating habits in order.

I need to find some more healthy recipes that the kids will like too, cause it seems like I am always making the same thing.  So if you have any, leave me a comment.  Thanks.

I haven’t decided what I am going to make for dinner tonight as I just took chicken and beef out to thaw about 2 hours ago, so whichever one is the most thawed, that’s what we will have for dinner :)

2012!!!!

So you may be wondering after seeing my post yesterday with the picture of me blowing out my candles what I meant by saying how awful of a picture it was, “but more about that later.”  Well I am going to explain now.  Now I have known I needed to lose weight for a few years now.  I have tried several things but have always given up because it is too hard, don’t have the money, or I am not losing weight fast enough.  A month or so ago I went to the doctor, they drew my blood to check for things, and came back with me having high cholostrol.  So here is my completely honest post:

I weighed myself Monday morning. I swore I would never let myself get above 200 pounds.  And Monday morning I weighed in at 199.0.  OUCH!  I don’t necessarily think my problem is overeating (although at times it very well could be), but I eat horrible food.  Expecially during the day, I just try to find something to grab and eat.  And I could really go until dinner without eating most days.  So this next year I am committed to losing weight.  I want to lose 70 pounds.  I was 123 at our wedding, although I don’t know if I will get there, since I have had 3 kids since then, but that is my goal.  Im not exactly sure what I am going to do. Whether it be weight watchers or what but I know I really need to workout.  I HATE going to gyms because I feel so insecure the whole time, so I really would like to get some workout equipment for the house so I can do it in my house when the kids are napping, so nobody has to see this nasty body jiggling around.  So I am going to be completely honest on here about my weight loss journey.  I hope you will support me through the way.

There are several othe projects I would like to complete around the house this year.  Here they are listed in no order:

1.  Bathroom downstairs

2.  Bathroom upstairs

3.  Hook up our Hot tub outside

4.  Deck

5.  Fence

6.  Light fixture on front of house (which we purchases months ago, but neither one of us know how to hook it up).

7.  Railing for outside

8.  Bricks on side of driveway

9.  Patio on front of house

10.  Paint basement

11.  Drywall in laundry room and paint

12.  Tile entryway downstairs by garage.

Now I am sure there is more that I just can’t think of right now.  So if I think of them later, I will update it.

These are my motivation pictures to lose weight:

Look how skinny we were!

I want a beach body. I want to feel comfortable wearing a swimsuit this summer!

Goodbye 30!

I am officially into my 30′s now.  Yep, I turned 31 today.  My hubby treated me very special today along with all my kids.  My husband took 3 out of the 4 kids to the grocery store to get something to make for dinner tonight, which was amazing, it was so quiet for about 45 minutes.  Then he made me dinner and wouldn’t let me help with anything.  We had fried shrimp, salad, and french fries.  It all tasted amazing.  Usually we go out to eat with my parents on my birthday but my dads birthday is just 5 days after mine so this year we decided to get together on Sunday and just have dinner at my parents for both of us.  So it was different being home for my birthday, but my husband did all the work.  Bless him!  The kids were in rare form tonight, I think they knew something was different about today so they were all a little off.  After dinner they presented me with a birthday cake, that Mark made for me all by himself (I say that as if he were a child, but he really is an amazing cook).  Here is the cake he made me:

How awesome is this!

Okay and this is an extremely embarrassing picture but I will get to that more later:

Ya, okay, so not a good picture.  So I think I need to post one to offset this one:

She thought the cake was so good she was licking her hands.

Thanks so much everyone for the birthday wishes.  And thanks to my amazing family for making it a special day for me.  I love you!

K-Roundup

What an amazing day.  Today Baylor went to Kindergarten roundup at their school.  I can’t believe my little miracle baby is going to be in kindergarten next year.  There wasn’t a whole lot to it, but it was a good experience for him.  We went into the gym and filled out paperwork and they had a few people speak.  During this time the soon to be kindergarteners went with the teachers to the classroom to do some fun stuff.  Baylor just got up and walked away with the teachers.  At this point I wasn’t sure whether to be happy that he was so willing to go with them, or sad because in a way I wanted him to grab onto my leg and say that he wanted to stay with me.  But I guess he is getting older and it is good for him to become more independent.  Little Miss Houston was a crazy one during this time.   I was trying to fill out paperwork while she was running all over the gym, pushing her stroller into people, and yelling because she found out that her voice echoed in the gym.  Thankfully everyone was very entertained by her and we didn’t have any grouchy people.  Maybe it is because everyone there had children there and they remembered what it was like.  When we went to pick up Baylor he was sitting in a desk just cutting away.  He colored some shapes, and was cutting them out to glue onto a piece of paper.  He is so different from Tye.  Tye could care less to color, it just colors stuff in with pencil and is done with it.  Not Baylor, he takes his time, stays in the lines, and uses lots of different colors.  He is my art kid.  I couldn’t help but think about him on the way home.  How sick he was when he was born, how we almost lost him, how I would pray all day long asking God to heal him, how I couldn’t lose him.  And now look at him, we are getting ready to send him off to school.  Im not sure whether to cry because my baby is growing up and going to be in school all day or jump for joy because now I only have 1 left!!!

New Line

Many of you know that I am a lia sophia advisor.  After having a few bad experiences with a few customers I decided to give it a break for awhile.  And now I am back up and running.  I really did miss doing my shows, it was always nice to get out of the house and meeting new ladies (and earn some money for my family).  This last catalog I really did like, but a lot of the price points were higher.  So I am absolutely thrilled about the new catalog that I can start selling from February 1st!  It has a ton of great NEW styles (actually there are 202 new pieces) and most importantly at a great price.  Last night at my meeting we got to go to 4 different stations and take a look at some of the new pieces.  I can honestly say I saw a ton of stuff that I would wear and that I think will be great pieces for lots of people.  I have a show at the end of this month that will be from the catalog right now but then in February I can start selling from the new one.  I am kinda bummed that I have 26 items from the old catalog that will be discontinued, so if you interested I am selling them at a 70% discount.  The money I make off of my retired pieces I am going to put towards purchasing items from the new catalog so I have a good display for people to look at my shows.  So if your interested let me know.  Also you can go to liasophia.com and check out the catalog, the one should be on there shortly, if it isn’t already.  I am hoping to have my lia sophia website back up and running soon.  When I do, you can go to www.liasophia.com/houstonsjewelrybox.com to check it out, you can even place orders from here.  I would love to have a show for you as well, it is so much fun, I send out the invites for you, and you earn a TON of FREE jewelry.

Creative Sunday

After a night of restless sleep, the kids woke us up this morning.  I fed the kids then got Houston dressed so we could go to Michaels.  My parents gave me a gift certificate to Michaels for Christmas and their was an idea I had gotten from pinterest, so I just needed to go pick up a few things.  While Houston and I were shopping, Mark moved Baylors room upstairs.  It looks like such a big boy room and we will eventually be moving Tye out of Austins room and into his own room downstairs.  It just isn’t working having Austin and Tye share a room, as they seem to feed off of each other and I think Austin needs his own space at his age.  So far Baylor has liked having his own room so we will see.  When I got home I fed Houston and laid her down for nap.  Then I got started on my project.  I wanted to make silhouettes of the kids faces to hang up in our room.  The silhouettes ended up being much easier than I had thought.  I also needed to sand and paint a door that was left in our house when we bought it.  I have been seeing all these different ideas of things you can do with old doors, and I absolutely love them.  So here is my “finished” project:

The picture just doesn’t do it justice so I might try taking another one tomorrow.  And I still would like to add something to the sides because I think it still needs something.  But all in all I am pretty pleased with this.  We hung it up in our bedroom.  So this is my first pin to pinterest of my own.  I have made several other things, I just haven’t taken pictures of them to post on pinterest.  I also made Houston a few bows today.  Now that she wears her hair in piggy tails a lot I needed bows that I had two of, and also some bows that were small enough to pull her bangs to the side of her head so they aren’t in her eyes.  I think they turned out pretty good.  So it was a pretty successful creative Sunday!

Robotics

So today was Austins first Robotics tournament.  He is in the challenge program at school for gifted kids (yes, my son is gifted, and no, I don’t know where he gets it).  His teacher had asked him to be on the Robotics team at the beginning of the year, only 4 kids in the whole school were chosen.  He was very excited about this as he loves to build thing, such as legos and erector sets.  So they have been working on their robot all year.  Today was their first competition, not only the first for the kids but also the first for the school.  I have never been to one of these so I wasn’t sure what it would be like.  And honestly I can say I felt like I was in an episode of The Big Band Theory for awhile.  So the kids had to register their robot and make sure it qualified for the size, etc.  Then they had the interviews with the judges, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall during this.  Then the competitions started.  I would say their was probably about 14 teams.  I have to say how proud I was of Austin, he worked so hard on the robot the whole day.  They had 4 matches and the 4 teams with the highest scores moved onto the finals.  Austins team scored a total score of 91 for 1st place.  I know can you believe it, their first time and they were in first place after the peliminaries.  So they moved onto the finals and they finished 2nd.  The kids were all very bummed about this as the 1st place winners get to go to state to compete to make it to Nationals.  So they passed out awards for 1st place, engineering award, and the honor award.  The honor award was for the team who was best all around (control of robot, built the best, sportmanship, work ethic, etc.), the team that won this award gets to go straight to Nationals.  Guess who won. . . team number 1603 the Dodge Vex Demons!!!  Yep, you got it Austins team.  I was so proud of him.  It amazes me how smart he is, I am just so proud of my little GEEK.  And I mean geek in a good way.  I love my geeks.

They are partcipitating in one more tournament and then Nationals are in March sometime.  What a great day it was.  I mean it wasn’t like watching him play baseball or anything, but it was a lot of fun.  I was pleasantly surprised.

GO DODGE VEX DEMONS!!!!!
